Contemporary asset management is still largely human-centered, valuing nature mainly for the services it provides to people. This paper instead proposes an ecocentric model that integrates natural and built assets and treats ecological systems as primary assets whose regeneration underpins long-term economic and social resilience.

The $1.3 billion Oregon Transportation Investment Act III State Bridge Delivery Program was the largest investment in Oregon transportation in 50 years, the first large program outsourced, a comprehensive public–private partnership between the Oregon Department of Transportation and a Fluor–HDR Joint Venture, completed on schedule, under budget, and with outstanding stakeholder relationships. The program also established a model for sustainable infrastructure investment by simultaneously enhancing economic performance, mobility, and environmental stewardship while delivering a positive return on investment. Part II describes program operations, outcomes, and lessons learned.

The Forward-Deployed, All-Contingency, Corps Engineer Brigade
As the “New World Order” emerged in the early 1990s, following the winning of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, German reunification, deployments to Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and the conventional forces in Europe drawdown, the 130th Engineer Brigade increasingly focused on missions outside of Germany. In addition to V Corps, the 130th supported United States Army Europe and the European Command. This article reflects the 130th’s missions in mobility, counter-mobility, survivability, sustainment engineering, and topographic engineering. The Bridge Within A Bridge
In November 1990, a truss bridge across the Erie Canal in Port Byron, New York collapsed. This article reviews putting a Bailey Bridge through the truss bridge to return it to service. It is available on Page 17 of the Engineer Magazine.
